What is Nitric Acid ?

Under normal circumstances, nitric acid is a colorless and transparent liquid with a suffocating and irritating odor. It is a strong oxidizing and corrosive monobasic inorganic strong acid. It is one of the six major inorganic strong acids and an important chemical raw material. The chemical formula is HNO3 , the molecular weight is 63.01, and it is miscible with water.

Nitric acid

Nitric acid has a wide range of uses, mainly used in chemical fertilizers, dyes, national defense, explosives, metallurgy, medicine and other industries.

1. Nitric acid is an important chemical raw material, mainly used for the manufacture of compound fertilizers such as ammonium nitrate, calcium ammonium nitrate, nitrophosphate fertilizer, and nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.

2. It is used as etchant and strong acid cleaning etchant, and can be used in conjunction with glacial acetic acid, hydrogen peroxide, etc.

3. Nitric acid can be used as a cleaning and derusting agent for carbon steel and stainless steel equipment, used in the redox treatment of sewage and wastewater; in the biological treatment of sewage, it can be used as a nitrogen source in microbial nutrients, etc.

4. The coatings industry is used to manufacture nitro varnishes and nitro enamels

5. Nitric acid has been used in various forms as a propellant for liquid-fueled rockets

6. Nitric acid is also an indispensable and important analytical chemical reagent, such as a solvent and an oxidant. It is also used in organic synthesis to prepare various nitro compounds.

storage method

Store in a cool, ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat sources. The storage temperature should not exceed 30℃, and the relative humidity should not exceed 80%. Keep container tightly closed. It should be stored separately from reducing agents, alkalis, alcohols, alkali metals, etc., and should not be mixed.

Closed operation, pay attention to ventilation. The operation is as mechanized and automated as possible. Operators must undergo special training and strictly abide by operating procedures.
